The Wio terminal is a device with a powerful microcontroller, it has ATSAMD51P19 with ARM Cortex-M4F core running at 120MHz, internet connection via the Realtek RTL8720DN, dual-band 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz Wi-Fi, and the 2.4” LCD Screen.
It also has a back connector compatible with the Raspberry Pi.
I don't have in hand any Grove board, but this device has two ports available which I think will let you explore a lot of different configurations for applications.
I really think that this Wio Terminal has very good built-in hardware, the speed is just great, the screen resolution is more than enough.
This is my first time experimenting with grove ports, I really think that this device should have a 5 pin grove port for my Smart Motor app to work properly as I need at least 3 GPIO to properly interact with this kind of servo motor.
I am now thinking ofa way to make a 4 pin grove interface for the Dynamixel motors, maybe it will be easier just two use two of the grove ports to connect with it and use the extra GPIO for something else as an ADC for the motor supply voltage.
The Wio terminal is like having an ESP32 but with specialized hardware, the microcontroller is free almost all the time and it does not have to deal with the wifi while not needed.
I could not resist opening it and seeing all the hardware which is awesome, a great layout design, I really don't understand why is so cheap.
I am still thinking about the best app for this hardware, if you have any suggestions please let me know.
