My latest STEM project is more of rekindling a board which has been quietly sitting in the wings, waiting for the right opportunity to come center stage.

The Project

Taking the popular IPEM IoT Power Energy Monitor, fusing the equally popular ESPuno Pi Zero, with a side of Ethernet, drizzled with RS-485 and RTC, I present EPEM.

Configurable inputs allow for easy monitoring of Single, Split, Dual or Three Phase (Star or Delta), mains circuits or rings.

The Ethernet Power Energy Monitor maybe powered from low voltage AC, or DC.

Designed primarily for use with 'Clip-on' CT clamps, such as the popular YHDC Series, Rogowski (Coil), High Current Transformers maybe optionally connected through changing of board links.

The multi-layer board is rather compact but importantly the challenging hand routing is well underway and the beta should be leaving the green room very soon for fabrication and testing.

As with the original IPEM, the size is only 70x53mm and allows for OLED display if required.

Using the U.FL version of the ESP32-C6, the EPEM is designed to easily be safely mounted inside of an enclosure, with Ethernet connectivity and optionally External antenna connection (bridging Wi-Fi, BT, Zigbee or Thread Mesh).

The RS-485 allows easy monitoring, or control, of local Modbus data such as from solar batteries and other monitoring devices.
