In this project you will learn how to build 3 different circuits using a 555 timer. Perfect for a beginner to learn about 555 timers.
Motor speed controllerThis project will allow you to control the speed and direction of a motor.
The circuit uses a 555 timer to create a PWM signal that it the connected to a transistor to allow you to control larger motors. You can change the transistor to suit the current draw of the motor you are using. The direction of the motor can then be chosen by the DPDT switch.
This project will generate a number on the dice at a press of a button.
This design uses a CD4017 in conduction with a 555 timer to display a random number every time the button is pressed. The LEDs will need to be placed in the configuration shown bellow so that it will show the correct number on the dice.
This circuit will test a transistor to see if it is PNP or NPN.
To use the tester just simply insert a Transistor into the header and power up the device. If it is NPN the red led will light up if the blue LED lights up it is PNP.
