Our project is about creating an automatic window opener using a servo motor and a Particle Photon for IoT integration. It all started one rainy evening when we forgot to close the window, and the rain soaked our carpet. That moment sparked the idea: what if windows could close themselves when it rains or when no one is home? We wanted to build a solution that combines convenience, security, and energy efficiency.
How It Works- Hardware Integration:
- A Particle Photon microcontroller is connected to the window's motorized opening/closing mechanism.
- The Photon is programmed to receive commands from the app via the Particle Cloud API.
- App Communication:
- The Flutter app sends commands (open/close) to the Photon using RESTful API calls.
- The app receives and displays feedback on the current window state.
- Cloud-Based Control:
- The app leverages the Particle Cloud for communication, ensuring the window can be controlled from anywhere with an internet connection.
Why We Made It
We wanted to solve everyday problems like protecting homes from rain, improving security, and maintaining indoor air quality—all while making life a little smarter and easier.
