Some buildings have rooms where the lights turn on when you walk in. But this is inefficient. In most cases all the lights in a room when you walk in. This is because there is usually one or two motion sensors that control all these lights. When motion is sensed, several lights turn on. What if each bulb had a sensor in it that can sense motion and turn on?
This would save a lot of energy due to the fact that if someone is walking around in one part of a room then only the bulbs in that part of the room will turn on and not all the bulbs. By placing a motion sensor in each bulb then each bulb can be controlled (turned on or off) by that single motion sensor. This lighting system can be useful in companies, hotels, classrooms, and various buildings.
