Unfortuanately the Garmin heart rate monitor seems to struggle with the harsh conditions it is regularly put in; not only this but many find the tight strap around there chest is uncomfortable during exercise. The plan is to hack a partially broken heart rate monitor so that a new device can communicate the heart rate, measured through using the infra-red light principal, to the Garmin as if it were the original.
