The Arduboy Pro Rumble itself is a homemade Leonardo backpack that has a vibration motor attached to Speaker Pin 2. Game makers can use the Arduboy2 Tones commands to add rumble to their game. The system also features broken out Serial connection to connect the the Ardumiibo Scanner and future peripherals. The Ardumiibo scanner is a PN532 NFC Scanner with a Neopixel ring that can scan collectible items from the real world into your game.
I recently worked with RFID on a Disney Magicband scanner project, and I knew I could bring it to the Arduboy in a cool way. I'd always wanted to design an Arduboy that had Rumble features, and could use cool feature like Nintendo's Amiibos or whatever accessories the community wanted! Well now we can with the Serial cable breakout from my project! Specifically I added an "Ardumiibo Scanner" that let's you bring real world objects into your games! Best of all, it's got Rumble too! Oh Yeah, and that bigger screen! My design inspiration was really a nod to the Tiger electronics handhelds of the 90s.
Future accessories could include a step tracker, and even a Gyro! Now that we have serial to work with, so many doors are opened!Check out the full project here!
