You Want to See This Cyberdeck
You won't want to miss this cyberdeck built by High Tech \\ Low Life.
I love the cyberdeck community, because it is all about creating one’s own interpretation of the perfect portable computer. Market trends, manufacturing costs, and consumer preferences are all irrelevant, which means that creators can express their style however they want. This cyberdeck built by High Tech \\ Low Life is a perfect example and it is so cool.
Unlike most of the cyberdecks we see, this isn’t actually a self-contained computer. Rather, it is more like an insane case for a smartphone. But I’m not detracting points for that, because it is still very useful — potentially even more useful than a conventional cyberdeck. After all, smartphones pack a lot of high-end hardware into a very compact package.
This cyberdeck “case” adds a Bluetooth amplifier, 5W speakers, a mini tactile keyboard with touchpad, and a 10,000mAh power bank. Put all of that together and you have what you need to get some real work done.
High Tech \\ Low Life says they were inspired by the Atari Portfolio, but I think this cyberdeck has more of a Sony Vaio P feel to it. Either way, it looks fantastic with an enclosure made out of a combination of 3D-printed and laser-cut parts. Some laser engravings on the acrylic panels add decorative flair that looks awesome. And since this is a cyberdeck, there is a chunky handle on the side for daily carry.
