Watch a LEGO Machine Solve a 9x9x9 Rubik’s Cube

Think you’ve got skills at solving a 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube? You may want to think again after watching this giant LEGO Mindstorms machine unscramble an insanely complex 9x9x9 puzzle.

The MultiCuber 999, which holds the Guinness World Record for largest Rubik’s Cube ever solved by a robot, can line up the 729 colored square in about 35 minutes.

To accomplish this, the MultiCuber uses a Samsung smartphone with a custom Android app for its eyes and brain. The mobile device communicates with the programmable bricks to control the motors that then move the cube.
