YouTuber austiwawa has increased the fun by amping up his Crazy Cart XL with a beefier motor that really puts the “go” in “go-cart.”

The Razor Crazy Cart XL is unique among go-carts, because it has an innovative single-drive wheel design. That wheel is in the front and is mounted so that it’s turned by the steering wheel directly. The back two wheels are casters. A hand-operated lever lets you control the angle of the casters, allowing you “drift” the Crazy Cart XL with ease. One electric motor is used to spin the drive wheel, and austiwawa has upgraded that in order to gain a lot more power—increasing the speed, acceleration, and fun of the Crazy Cart XL.

The stock electric motor in the Crazy Cart XL is rated at 500 watts. That’s powerful, but there is definitely room for improvement. That improvement comes in the form of a massive 1600 watt motor. That motor is so large that it doesn’t even fit in the stock mount. To make it fit, austiwawa had to have custom mounting plates cut with a waterjet. Those were then welded into place. That motor also required a new controller and battery pack. The custom 18Ah battery pack was made from Sony VTC5 cells, and puts out 48V. Those upgrades dramatically increased the performance of the Crazy Cart XL—so much so that it now tears through casters wheels very quickly. But that’s a small price to pay for the smile it puts on austiwawa’s face.
