Typically speaking, a DIY project features a couple Arduinos at most. But Robert Mordzon’s giant interactive crossword puzzle is in a league of its own. This awesome art installation — which was made for the National Museum in Warsaw — features 130 Nanos and a Mega for a brain.

Under each square on the table lies an RFID reader, some LEDs, and a Nano. The letters are equipped with RFID tags. This enables the LEDs to illuminate depending on whether or not the correct word is formed as they are placed down.

  • No letter: LEDs are dimmed white
  • Correct letter: LEDs are green
  • Wrong letter: LEDs are red
  • Completed word: LEDs play a colorful, disco-like animation

Meanwhile, the Mega communicates with PC over serial, which displays graphic visualizations on a wall.
