Drum sets can be expensive. They’re also not the most portable things either. With hopes of changing that, French startup Drumistic has developed a sensor that slides over any ordinary drumstick (or attaches to your foot) and connects to a companion app over Bluetooth in under 30 seconds. From there, you can emulate the sounds of real drums right from your smartphone.
Whether it’s your lap, a coaster on your coffee table, or even a pillow on your sofa, just define your custom hitting zones on the app and Drumistic will adapt to your playing environment. It works with the same movements, the same impact of drumsticks, and positioning of the feet, all without the need of an actual drum set.
Drumistic enables you to easily record yourself and then export your jam sessions as sound or MIDI files. What’s more, each of your recordings can also be directly transcribed into sheet music.
Designed for everyone, Drumistic comes with hundreds of exercises that can help you enhance your drumming skills. As you begin playing, the sensors will let you know whether you’re on beat and if you’re hitting the accents correctly in real-time. Once done, Drumistic will provide you with personalized tips on areas of improvement as well.
Whether you’re Travis Barker or someone starting out, Drumistic looks like an awesome and affordable device that all drummers can enjoy. Interested? You can check it out on Kickstarter now!
