The BHT Home Automation Kit Is a Mains-Powered Dev Board with Six Relays and an ESP32
Designed to run directly from a mains supply, this all-in-one board is surprisingly compact — but don't forget an enclosure!
BHT Technologies has launched an all-in-one home automation board featuring six relays and an Espressif ESP32 microcontroller, offering remote control of a range of mains-powered devices.
"[This is a] home automation kit developed for DIY makers and enthusiasts," the company explains of its latest product. "As we are looking same hardware for one of our applications and couldn't find any products with ESP32 and flexibility in the mode of operations, hence we decided to design a custom PCB for this!"
The board is designed to operate on a 230V 50Hz supply mains supply without the need for an external power adapter, though should in theory also work on a 110V 60Hz supply, and features screw terminals leading to six relays supporting up to 7A at 250V AC or 12A at 120V DC.
An ESP32 module, meanwhile, provides wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well as full programmability — though the board also supports six physical buttons for manual control.
The company is selling the development board via Tindie at $70, though it must be noted that it doesn't include any case — and using a mains-voltage board bare is ill-advised.
