Arduino boards have obviously allowed hobbyists to create a staggering number of projects. Using one to play music, however, isn’t that simple due to its limited capabilities. Connor Nishijima decided to take on this challenge and use one to play the Super Mario Brothers theme song, translated from a MIDI file. The Miduino web service was used to automatically convert things into a usable sketch.

You can see the results in the video below, with LEDs blinking along with the iconic tunes. An astute observer might note that something like this could be faked quite easily, so if you’d like to “verify his results,” you can find the code here, and other song examples in the video description.
