When you buy a Raspberry Pi, you expect an excellent single-board computer with capabilites far exceeding its sub-$50 price tag. On the other hand, by itself it looks like something that belongs in a lab, not in a home or industrial environment. Sfera Labs aims to change this idea with a pair of products.

The Strato Pi, aside from having a nice looking enclosure, has several features built into its board that should enhance function as well. It has a hardware watchdog that can reset the system automatically if needed, along with a power supply, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), real-time clock (RTC), and a serial port. You can read more about the new Strato Pi in the team’s recent blog announcement.

The Iono Pi, in addition to several features found on the Strato Pi, is DIN rail mountable, and has several I/O options, including four relay outputs that can tolerate up to 15 amps. Though perhaps it wouldn’t replace a PLC in some situations, it looks like a great option for auxiliary control or data acquisition applications in an industrial environment. Be sure to also check out Sfera Labs’ latest post on the product here.
