Has the recent Bitcoin price explosion been treating well? First of all, let me say congratulations! But, secondly, we need to have a quick chat. You are keeping your Bitcoin secure, aren’t you? One of the most important features of Bitcoin is its untraceable nature. But, the flip side of that is that if someone gains access to your wallet, that currency is just plain gone.

Luckily, Bitcoin itself is very secure: every transaction is vetted multiple times. That means that as long as you keep your wallet protected, your Bitcoin should be safe. If you’re planning on using that wallet solely from a home computer and follow all the right precautions, you’ll be fine. But, what if you want to handle Bitcoin transactions on the go?

That’s where the new Coinkite Coldcard comes into play. It’s a dedicated hardware wallet for Bitcoin, which allows you securely receive and send the cryptocurrency from anywhere. The Coldcard is a small pocket-friendly device which protects your Bitcoin wallet with a pin code, and which has special circuitry to counteract hacking attempts.

Encryption relies on a secret, and if that secret is found through hardware hacking, your wallet could be compromised. So, the Coldcard uses a Microchip ATSHA204 security chip to protect it even down to the metal. There are also features like a secondary account pin code to thwart more direct, and violent, attempts to steal your Bitcoin. The Coldcard is currently available for preorder for $49.99, and should be delivered in Q2 2018.
