SparkFun Puts Together Some Limited-Edition DataLogger IoT Bundles — and a Hefty Discount

Discounted quickstart bundles for environmental, location, distance, and RFID sensing available for a limited time.

SparkFun has announced the release of four bundles designed for specific datalogging tasks — environmental, location, distance, and RFID tags — but if you're interested you'll have to hurry: they're only around for the holidays, and currently discounted as part of the company's Black Friday and Cyber Monday offers.

"SparkFun has decided to create easy-to-use DataLogger kits at a discounted price this Black Friday/Cyber Monday," SparkFun's KJB explains. "Whether you want to monitor your environment, experience the power of precise GPS tracking, delve into the world of precise distance measurement, or immerse yourself in the fascinating world of RFID technology, SparkFun has you covered with these limited edition kits."

Each of the kits is based around the company's DataLogger IoT board, an Espressif ESP32-based development board designed for plug-and-play compatibility with a range of sensors on solder-free Qwiic breakout boards — just connect the sensor and start logging. Your choice of sensor breakout controls exactly what is logged, and there's a wealth of choice — with the new limited-edition bundles designed to make it easier to get started.

The first bundle is for environmental logging, and includes the SparkFun DataLogger IoT board plus breakout boards with a Vishay VEML7700 ambient light sensor, a Bosh Sensortec BME680 temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and volatile organic compounds (VOC) sensor, and a Texas Instruments TMP117 high-precision temperature sensor, along with the Qwiic cables you'll need to wire them all up and a USB cable for power.

The second bundle pairs the DataLogger IoT with a GPS breakout based on the u-blox SAM-M10Q module with on-board antenna, offering accurate location sensing from up to four Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) constellations simultaneously. The third is another two-board pairing, with the DataLogger IoT and a STMicro VL53L1X laser distance sensor breakout offering a 1mm precision and ±5mm accuracy from 4cm to 4m (around 0.13 to 13 feet). Finally, the last kit in the launch bundles the DataLogger IoT with a the SparkFun Qwiic Dynamic NFC/RFID tag.

The bundles are now live on the SparkFun store at $39.95 for the RFID Kit, $59.95 for the Distance Sensing Kit, $79.95 for the GPS Kit, and $89.95 for the Environmental Kit, but SparkFun says they're only around for the holidays. The company is also offering a time-limited discount from today until 11:59PM MST on Monday, November 27th with 15 percent discount available on own-brand products with the code BFCM2023.
