While you might not be going out to experience escape rooms these days, the Spacecase by creator Jason R looks like an excellent stay-at-home alternative. This escape room/apparatus consists of metallic suitcase, along with a bag that contains what you need to get started on your journey. The scenario here is that you and your crew need to repair and launch your spaceship before time – i.e. oxygen – runs out.

Roughly 20 puzzles were created for this game, which is played by first unlocking and plugging in the external power supply box. This gives you access to the suitcase internals, with a variety of buttons, LEDs, switches, 7-segment displays, and even a servo-actuated “Core Analyzer” indicator.

The system is controlled by an Arduino Mega, which recognizes user inputs and gives feedback, including MP3 clips over an internal speaker. Make an incorrect input, however, and you might hear the dreaded “one minute of oxygen has been depleted.”

The build features a variety of laser-cut and 3D-printed parts, and the visible results look quite professional (though there may be a jumble of wires luring just below the surface). When you finally have everything solved, you can then flip the covered “Rocket Launch” switch, propelling your spacecraft out of danger!
