If you need to know what’s going on in Slack with multiple groups at a glance, then SlackBuddy — a cube with four sides that light up progressively depending on which of your channels is most active — looks like an excellent visualization tool.

The device, designed for a wearables and IoT class at RIT, uses a Particle Photon to get get information from Slack, and then increases the intensity of four RGB LED sticks hidden below translucent panels as you receive notifications.

SlackBuddy also features a laser-cut wooden frame, as well as 3D-printed brackets that allow it to be glued together without external nails or screws for a nice finished look.
