Seeed Studio Launches a XIAO-Powered No-Code Edge AI Vibration Anomaly Detection Kit

Seeed Studio has announced the launch of a no-code kit to deliver vibration-based anomaly monitoring using artificial intelligence (AI) and the compact XIAO ESP32-S3 — for under $20.

"We're thrilled to introduce the Vibration Anomaly Detection Kit for XIAO ESP32-S3 — a compact, efficient, and intelligent edge solution designed for real-time vibration monitoring and early fault detection," Seeed's Kezang Loday explains of the new bundle. "Whether you’re working with industrial machinery, smart appliances, or structural monitoring systems, this kit empowers you to stay ahead of mechanical failures with minimal setup."

Hardware-wise, the new kit is built around the compact XIAO ESP32-S3 microcontroller development board — hosted on a Grove Base for XIAO Shield to give it Grove-compatible expansion connectors, one of which is used for a bundled STMicroelectronics LIS3DH three-axis accelerometer breakout board.

The hardware is only part of the kit, though. On the software side, Seeed is promising a "no-code" experience — to go with the no-solder hardware — using the company's SenseCraft AI platform. "The kit's three-axis accelerometer first collects vibration data from the device [to be monitored]," Loday explains, "which is processed by XIAO ESP32-S3 before being fed into the GEDAD [Gyroscope Euclidean Distance Anomaly Detection] algorithm for analysis."

"The GEDAD algorithm establishes a baseline template by learning normal vibration patterns and identifies anomalies using Euclidean distance calculations," Loday continues. "Meanwhile, the SenseCraft AI platform provides an intuitive user interface that enables users to easily perform data collection, model training, parameter adjustment, and real-time monitoring, making this professional vibration detection algorithm readily applicable to real-world scenarios for engineers and maintenance personnel."
