Seeed Studio has unveiled its latest reComputer, this time offering an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX with 16GB of RAM for artificial intelligence workloads at the edge: the reComputer J4012.
"[The] reComputer J4012 is a powerful and compact intelligent edge box to bring up to 100 TOPS [Trillion Operations Per Second] modern AI performance to the edge," the company claims of its latest creation, "which offers up to 5X the performance of Jetson Xavier NX and up to 3X the performance of Jetson AGX Xavier. Combining the NVIDIA Ampere GPU architecture with 64-bit operating capability, Orin NX integrates advanced multi-function video and image processing, and NVIDIA Deep Learning Accelerators."
As with Seeed's earlier reComputer models, the newest entry in the family houses a system-on-module in a custom-built wall-mountable enclosure measuring 130×120mm (around 5.12×4.72") with heatsink and fan. At the rear are four USB 3.2 ports, an HDMI 2.1 video output, gigabit Ethernet, while internally the carrier board includes two MIPI Camera Serial Interface (CSI) ports plus M.2 Key E and Key M slots for storage and network expansion.
The J4012 isn't Seeed's first Orin NX-based reComputer design: back in October the company announced the J3010 and J3011, which were designed to use either the low-cost Jetson Orin Nano or higher-performance Jetson Orin NX systems-on-modules. The reComputer J4011, meanwhile, uses the same design as the J4012 but with the slower 8GB variant of the Jetson Orin NX SOM.
The company is taking back-orders for the reComputer J4012 on its website now at $899 with 128GB SSD and NVIDIA's Ubuntu Linux-based Jetpack software pre-installed, dropping to $879 for orders of ten or more units, with delivery expected in mid-March.
