Seeed Drops New Odyssey SBC Outfitted with Intel’s Gemini Lake SoC and Arduino Coprocessor

The Windows 10 mini PC comes with an Intel Celeron J4105 quad-core Gemini Lake processor and a Microchip SAM D21 Cortex-M0+ coprocessor.

Seeed Studio has launched a new Gemini Lake-based SBC with an integrated Arm coprocessor, which the company states will enable the development of IoT projects much easier than before. The Odyssey-X86J4105800 is billed as the “most expandable Windows 10 mini PC,” as it comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Enterprise, but it also packs an Cortex-M0+ MCU that allows users to take advantage of Linux distributions.

On the hardware side, the Odyssey features an Intel Celeron J4105 quad-core processor (1.5GHz/2.5GHz (in Burst mode), with Intel UHD GPU, 8Gb of LPDDR4 RAM, and optional 64Gb of eMMC Flash. It’s equipped with a Microchip ATSAMD21G18 coprocessor, a SATA III data connector and three SATA power headers, mSATA socket, and micro SD slot. Video out ports include HDMI 2.0a and Display Port 1.2, while audio out features HDMI, microphone/headphone combo connector, and front panel audio connector.

Connectivity options include dual-Gigabit Ethernet via Intel I211AT PCIe Gigabit controller (with Wake-on-LAN and PXE support), dual-band Wi-Fi 5 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac GHz HT160, Bluetooth 5.0, and optional 3G/4G cellular connectivity via M.2 card and onboard SIM card socket. Ports are many and include: two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. Since the Odyssey sports an Arduino-based coprocessor, the board is even outfitted with a 40-pin Raspberry Pi-compatible header and a 28-pin header dedicated to the SAMD21G18. Additional expansion options consist of an M.2 Key B 2242/2280 socket (with SATA III, USB2.0, UIM) and an M.2 Key M, 2242/2280 socket (with 4X PCIe 2.0).

It should be noted that the Odyssey comes in three versions: the Odyssey-X86J4105800, Odyssey-X86J4105864, and Odyssey-X86J4105864, all of which are identical other than the amount of eMMC available to the last two boards, which is 64Gb respectively. It’s the same for the bundled software as well, as the X86J4105864 version comes with Windows 10 Enterprise pre-installed, while the Odyssey-X86J4105864 comes with Windows 10 Enterprise activated.

All three Odyssey Windows 10 Mini PCs can be preordered now starting at $188 and will become available in less than two weeks (March 16, 2020).
