Whether you like it or hate it, the fact is that the world is now firmly in the arms of selfie culture. The only way to prove to your Instagram followers that you actually visited the world’s largest hot dog on your trip to Colorado is to take a selfie with it. But, for celebrities, the constant stream of selfie requests are unrelenting. Luckily for fans of Google Android, Rosie the Android doesn’t mind, and will even snap the photo for you!

Rosie the Android is a robot that was designed by a team of female engineers at Google, and named after the famous Rosie the Riveter campaign icon. She was built on Google’s Android Things platform, which combines an IoT framework with hardware to create connected projects. And, Rosie the Android is certainly connected! She roams the Google campus, and happily stops to take a selfie with you — she even prints a copy for you on the spot.

The project was created to highlight the capability and versatility of Android Things. That includes semi-autonomous movement, a variety of sensors, connectivity to Google cloud services, and, of course, remarkable control of a selfie stick. If that has you feeling inspired, head over to the Android Things page to learn more about how to get started making with the platform.
