RAKwireless Launches 16 New Additions to the WisBlock Family — Including Its First GNSS Tracker

RAKwireless has announced the launch of new entries in its WisBlock quick-start LoRaWAN development product family — featuring its first pre-assembled GNNS tracker and 16 new modules that include radar, time-of-flight, and ultraviolet sensors.

Designed for rapid development in the Internet of Things (IoT), RAKwireless' WisBlock range is split into four categories: Base, Core, Sensor, and Input/Output (IO). Everything in the range is designed to slot together like jigsaw pieces or building blocks — and as the company's range grows, so too do the possible combinations.

RAKwireless' latst launch includes the WisBlocks family's first Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) tracker, the RAK10700. Designed to both demonstrate the capabilities of the WisBlock range and to offer an off-the-shelf ready-to-run solution, the GNSS Tracker for LoRaWAN combines the WisBlock GNSS Module, WisBlock Environment Sensor Module, and WisBlock Accelerometer Sensor module along with a RAK4631 Core with Nordic nRF52 microcontroller and SX1262 LoRa transceiver — all in an IP64 housing with optional solar panel for off-grid operation.

For those who prefer to build their own devices, the company has also launched a total of 16 new WisBlock modules — starting with six new sensor: a Radar Sensor, a Time-of-Flight (ToF) Sensor, a Flex Sensor, an Infrared Sensor, an Ultraviolet Sensor, and a Soil Moisture Sensor with separate probe.

The new launch also includes eight new Interface modules for the WisBlock IO Slot: A Code Scanner Module compatible with a range of 1D and 2D codes, a Relay Module, a Keypad Module with 3×3, 3×4, and 4×4 keypad options, a Rotary Input Module, and an eight-channel Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) Module.

Finally, RAKwireless has confirmed two new wireless IO boards to add connectivity to WisBlock projects. The first is an LPWAN Module, the RAK13300, designed to add LPWAN connectivity to ESP32-based WisBlock Core projects currently limited to Wi-Fi only; the RAK13600, meanwhile, adds support for reading and writing of near-field communication (NFC) tags.
