Seeed Studio came up with an IoT solution for personal servers, intelligent voice assistants, and robotic development. The kit is the smallest Linux development board that consists of a system-on-module and an expansion (carrier) board.

The Quark-N (31mmx22mm), which is a system on module is powered by Allwinner H3 quad-core Cortex-A7, coupled with 512MB LPDDR3 RAM and up to 16GB eMMC. It is integrated with the popular GPU Arm Mali400 MP2. The interfaces are exposed via M.2 connectors that include Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, MIC, and LINEOUT.

The carrier board is connected to the expansion board, Atom-N through the M.2 interface. Despite its small size, it is equipped with onboard peripherals like a microphone, accelerometer, gyroscope, IPS display, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity. It comes with two USB 2.0 and a USB Type-C port along with a microSD card slot for external storage.

Since the driver is built-in, you should be able to see the system's message log when it booted up. For this, the LCD screen uses a serial peripheral interface to communicate with the CPU. You can even customize this to become the smallest built PC by connecting the USB keyboard and mouse to the development board using the xrdp server. There is also a microphone onboard the carrier that can be tested using the Audacity software which is pre-installed with the latest system image.

This development kit even gives you the option for remote desktop connection using the Microsoft Remote Desktop (Supports Windows/macOS) within the same network.

The board is now available for pre-order with shipping expected from December 20th, priced at $49.90. More information can be found on Seeed Studio’s page.
