In case you’ve forgotten, April Fools’ takes place in a mere three weeks from today. While you could come up with a prank on that day, in order to do something truly memorable, a little preparation is in order. As seen here, one great way to annoy coworkers, classmates, or even members of your family is to install this hardware mouse jiggler.

This device is made from an Arduino-compatible and HID-capable SparkFun Pro Micro. It’s cleverly modified to work via a USB-A port rather than its typical micro-USB connector using a small custom board, and the assembly is hidden inside of a 3D-printed case. This makes it appear to be a poorly-constructed thumbdrive, so with a little luck your subject won’t be able to find it, especially if it’s hidden behind a desktop PC.

While clever, given the plethora of available IO, you could take this even further, perhaps installing a remote control device, or even a speaker that beeps intermittently. Of course, if you work in an office setting IT normally won’t be happy with the extra work, but if you were to tell them beforehand, they might be able to enlist their help! Instructions for the build can be found here, and check out the video above if you’d like to see it in action!
