Getting a good photograph set up for one angle is hard enough, but if you need to show off multiple views of your product or DIY project, things can get complicated quickly. One solution is the PhotoPizza turntable, which you can buy or make yourself.

The device rotates objects and triggers a camera automatically, meaning that one conifguration is all you need to get a full 360° view of your subject.

While the turntable is aimed at product photography and video, the design is Arduino-based and open source. Given this, it seems ripe for modification, perhaps into into an advanced — and quite large — 3D scanning rig.

Check it out in the videos below showing off its load capacity of up to 200 kg (441 lbs) to capture a wide variety of items, from an iPod, to a human, and even a small refrigerator!
