Orbbec Unveils the Gemini 335Le Depth Camera, Surprise Lidar Sensor
Company's expansion into lidar comes with claims of a multi-echo design for improved performance in dusty or foggy environments.
3D vision specialist Orbbec has unveiled its latest stereo vision camera, the Gemini 335Le β and a surprise entry into the lidar market with the Pulsar SL450, designed with robotic navigation in mind.
"We are pleased to launch the Gemini 335Le and Pulsar SL450 at ProMat 2025 today in front of the best and brightest minds in material handling, supply chain, and logistics," says Orbbec's Brad Suessmith. "With the release of the Gemini 335Le incorporating Ethernet connectivity, Orbbec becomes the first in the industry to offer such comprehensive interface options. The versatility and flexibility provided by the Gemini 330 Series enables our customers to incorporate high-quality depth sensing into all of their robot designs, regardless of which interface they prefer to use."
The latest entry in the Gemini range, which has previously offered a choice of USB 3.0 and GMSL2 connectivity, the Gemini 335Le is the first to include Ethernet support β with the choice of M12 X-coded and M8 A-coded industrial interfaces, the former of which handles data and power over a high-stability connection in the face of harsh vibrations and cable lengths up to 328 feet and the latter of which delivers power, multi-device synchronization, and RS-485 support. The depth-sensing and RGB imaging internals, meanwhile, share the same specifications as the USB-connected Gemini 335.
Orbbec's latest depth camera is joined by its first entry in the light direction and ranging (lidar) market: the Pulsar SL450, a direct time-of-flight (dToF) sensor with a 270-degree scanning range and detection out to 150 feet or more. The company says the sensor delivers high-density point-cloud scanning at up to 72kHz with 0.075-degree angular resolution and includes a multi-echo design for improved performance in dusty or foggy environments. This, the company says, makes it ideal for autonomous robotics, industrial systems, and commercial service robots.
The new devices are being demonstrated at the ProMat 2025 show at Chicago's Lakeside Center this week, Hall D Booth E12457. More information is available on the Orbbec website; pricing has been set at $464 for the Gemini 335Le with tripod and cable included, and $420 for the Pulsar SL450 lidar sensor.
