NuraLogix Brings Vision-Based Health Monitoring to Any Web Browser with Anura Web

Previously available only as a mobile app, Anura Web promises to pull a range of health data from a 30 second video in any browser.

Contactless vital-sign monitoring specialist NuraLogix has announced a new variant of its Anura "health and wellness personal measurement solution" — promising to measure 30 health metrics from just a 30 second video selfie, captured using any camera and running in any modern web browser.

"Ease of access to personal health monitoring and improving people's lives everywhere is our aim with Anura Web," claims NuraLogix's chief executive officer Marzio Pozzuoli of his company's latest launch. "It's a truly revolutionary concept: just by sitting in front of your computer's camera, you can track your general health and wellness with medical-grade accuracy (based on research and clinical studies)."

Previously, the Anura system — which uses NuraLogix's Transdermal Optical Imaging (TOI) technology to measure changes in blood flow using computer vision — had required the installation of a custom smartphone app. The new Anura Web, as the name suggests, operates entirely in-browser and requires no software to be installed nor any specialized hardware bar a standard off-the-shelf webcam.

The new variant of the tool is cross-platform, with NuraLogix confirming it works "equally well" on Apple iOS and Google Android mobile browsers as well as on desktop and laptop browsers under Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, and Linux. The company is also making it available to product developers for integration into their own products and services.

While NuraLogix takes pains to point out that "Anura is not a substitute for the clinical judgment of a health care professional [and] does not diagnose, treat, mitigate or prevent any disease, symptom, disorder or abnormal physical state," the company says the system is able to measure blood pressure, heart rate, cardiac workload, breathing, and heart rate variability from a single 30-second video — and can use the data thus gathered to flag irregular heartbeat or breathing patterns, estimate stress levels, warn of potential risks of cardiovascular disease, and even flag body mass index (BMI) issues.

NuraLogix has confirmed it will be showcasing Anura Web while acting as a "virtual attendee" of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week; more information on Anura is available on the NuraLogix website.
