Arduino boards and the like are excellent for prototyping, but all too often you’re left with a rat’s nest of wires at the end of a project. While some of what you’re connecting will be unique to your build, other components tend to be pretty standard, getting used over and over again. To help make Arduino projects easier to share and make, creator Mohammed Rezwanul Islam has come up with MonoView.

This board packs not only an ATmega328P processor, but adds a 98x68 monochrome display, LiPo battery charger, and four buttons for user input. The U8glib graphics library has been ported, so the screen will work without issue. While a color display might have looked nicer, Rezwanul took the monochrome approach for its lower power requirements. This low power draw and compact design — less than half the size of a credit card — makes it ideal for use a a DIY watch, or other simple applications like a kitchen timer or gaming device.

Accessory boards are also available, such as an add-on watch PCB and a custom perfboard for prototyping. MonoView is now funding on Kickstarter, with rewards starting at around $34. You can also get a “Giga Pack” with 10 MonoViews and a ton of accessories for $462 if you want to go all-in!
