MIKROE Hits a Major Milestone with the Launch of Its 1,500th Click Board

A partnership with Würth Elektronik on the mesh networking Wirepas Click brings the total number of MIKROE Click boards to 1,500.

Embedded hardware specialist MikroElektronika (MIKROE) has anounced a major milestone for its Click ecosystem of solderless add-on boards: the release of the 1,500th board in the family, a Wirepas Click for mesh wireless communications.

"MIKROE now offers 1,500 Click boards — more than any other company in the world," company chief executive officer Nebojsa Matic boasts. "Clicks are available for many functions — sensors, power, motor control, HMI [Human-Machine Interface], to name just a few. If we consider wireless connectivity alone, designers can choose from 160 solutions.

"Today we are celebrating our 1500th Click board," Matic continues. "But we launch three or four new Clicks every week. We also offer standardized MCU and display solutions, and our aim with all these development tools is simply to fast-track design. Don’t reinvent the wheel, don’t pay for expensive, singular design tools, get to market faster."

The Click boards are based on MIKROE's mikroBUS standard, and aim to offer compact add-on boards for a range of development boards using a solderless header system. Any Click board will slot straight in to any mikroBUS socket, adding the builder's choice of — following this week's release — over 1,500 add-on gadgets to a build quickly and easily.

The 1,500th board itself is the Wirepas Click, built in partnership with Würth Elektronik and designed to add a 2.4GHz radio with mesh communication capability using the WIRL-PRO2 Thetis-I module. The module offers data rates up to 1Mb/s and is driven by a Nordic Semi nRF52840 system-on-chip with a single 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 core, 256kB of static RAM (SRAM), and 1MB of flash.

To celebrate the milestone, MIKROE has announced that it is placing all its Click boards on a 15 percent off discount until this coming Monday, with more information available on the MIKROE store.
