MassiveButDynamic's Canduino Is a Fully Arduino Nano-Compatible Dev Board with Built-In CAN Bus
Compact board is designed for low-cost CAN bus work, and boasts pin compatibility with the Arduino Nano.
Hamburg-based MassiveButDynamic has launched a compact, breadboard-friendly, Arduino-compatible development board designed for those working on automotive systems: the Canduino, with a built-in CAN bus.
"Our product is an Arduino Nano with an integrated CAN bus," MassiveButDynamic explains of its latest product launch. "The CAN bus is realized via a MCP2515 which is connected to the ATmega328P via SPI. If you want to use it without CAN bus keep in mind that pin D10 is the chip select pin of the MCP2515."
"We ourselves were looking for such a board and unfortunately found nothing like it for our own project, so we thought we would just create our own and share it with people who also want to realize a project with CAN bus."
The board itself is fully compatible with the Arduino Nano, down to using the very same board support package in the Arduino IDE. The CAN bus functionality, meanwhile, is ready to go out-of-the-box — and the design, while slightly larger in footprint than a true Arduino Nano, retains pin compatibility with its predecessor.
MassiveButDynamic is selling the Canduino for $19.95 via its Tindie store.
