Listen to Your Favorite Tracks on an Amazon Dash Jukebox

After being introduced to using the Amazon Dash Button to start and stop an Internet radio station playing on a Sonos system, Tanya Reilly, an engineer who works at Google, decided to apply the same idea to a multi-Dash jukebox.

This homemade jukebox has four buttons, including one for the Moana soundtrack, meaning that her young daughter can now play and pause it without adult intervention. Other options consist of the Hamilton soundtrack, Beyonce’s “Lemonade,” and some Bach.

How it works is that these devices generate ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) traffic on the local network, which can then trigger a server, such as a properly set up Raspberry Pi, to respond accordingly via the Sonos.
