After suspecting uninvited “guests” were visiting his garden, self-described Raspberry Pi geek Mark West decided to take matters into his own hands, mounting a Pi-based camera to his terrace window using ZeroView’s suction cups.
The build took him a reported six to seven hours to complete, and there was no coding involved, just quite a bit of work to get everything set up on his Raspberry Pi Zero.
For software, he used an application called “Motion” to monitor everything. Although it generally works, he has had some issues with false positives when the environment changes.
If you’d like to set up your own security camera like this, West’s writeup— and his followup where he addresses the false positive issue — would be a great place to start!
