Becky Stern lives in a large New York City apartment building and is always curious about what she hears coming from the hallway. Having to get up and look through a peephole once in a while is fine; however, having to relentlessly head to the door can be distracting and tedious to say the least.
“ I have successfully used this webcam peep hole rig to identify The Hallway Whistler, among other mysteries,” says Stern.
Stern wanted to be able to see out of her peephole without having to leave her desk. So, she used a motion detector to automatically take and upload photos/videos from events happening outside her door, then stream them to a monitor within her apartment. To accomplish this, she used a Raspberry Pi Zero with some help from Tony D’s Cloud Cam tutorial on Adafruit.
