Electronic synthesizers have been around for decades, but that hasn’t stopped Skot Wiedmann from coming up with a new and exciting musical device called the Hyve Touch Synth.
This touch-sensitive, “absurdly polyphonic” instrument can be played using its honeycomb-shaped pads on the top part of its control board, with each adjacent note harmonically related to the next. This means that you can slide your finger from one chord to another, creating harmonies as you go.
Alternatively, the Hyve Touch Synth’s bottom half is arranged like a standard piano keyboard. Each of these input methods senses pressure as well as vertical and horizontal finger position, allowing for further pitch control.
Designed with everyone in mind, this beautiful analog synth is now available as a fully-funded Kickstarter, in three levels ranging from a fully-assembled model, to a bare circuit board that you can hack.
