“IamStarGoat” loves the look of old radio horns from the 1920s and '30s. Unfortunately, they’re quite rare, and expensive when they can be found. After almost giving up on getting one, he instead decided to model it in Fusion 360, and 3D print it. Since the horn isn’t much good without some sort of audio source, his design is built to fit an Amazon Echo Dot, which sits in the base and pipes audio up and out of the curved tube.
Parts were modeled in 3D using a series of sketches to outline the changing diameter of the horn ,and a shell function was used to hollow everything out. As IamStarGoat notes, it’s very helpful to have a pair of calipers around when designing in order to visualize how big something will be in real life. This also helps with any object that needs to fit inside — an Echo Dot in this case.
Once designed, parts were printed, sanded, filled, and given a copious amount of paint, resulting in an extremely nice-looking finish. Models can be found on Thingiverse, and the horn is available in sections or as a singe piece if you can somehow print the whole thing together.
