Freedrum 2 Digital Drum Sticks Will Let You Bang Out Beats Wherever You Are
Back in 2016, the Freedrum virtual drum kit launched through Kickstarter. Now the team is back with the new Freedrum 2 digital drum sticks.
Few instruments are as difficult to accommodate as a drum set. Even an entry level drum kit will be quite expensive, take up a lot of space, and produce sounds loud enough to enrage your neighbors. But anyone who has ever had access to a pencil or two knows that it’s easy enough to tap out a beat without a complete drum set handy. Back in 2016, the Freedrum virtual drum kit debuted on Kickstarter. Now the team is back with the new Freedrum 2 digital drum sticks.
Freedrum 2 just recently launched on Kickstarter and the campaign has already reached nearly twice the original $50,000 funding goal. With Freedrum 2, you don’t have to worry about purchasing and storing a big, unwieldy drum set. You also don’t have push unsatisfying buttons on a drum machine or computer keyboard. Instead, you can swing drum sticks just like you would if you were playing a physical drum set. Want to hit that snare? Just tap one of the Freedrum 2 sticks in the location where it would be. Need more cowbell? Just tap away wherever you have it virtually mounted. Then use the foot sensors to hit the base or your high hat.
Each Freedrum 2 virtual drum kit includes two virtual drumsticks and two simulated foot pedals. Those have built-in sensors to detect when you are striking a drum and also which drum you’re hitting. When paired with the app or software (which does require a subscription), thumping on your virtual drum will produce a sound. You can hear that through headphones or export the sound (or MIDI sequence) to mix in other software. You can, of course, assign different drum sounds and configure your virtual drum kit to your liking. The drumsticks even feature haptic feedback, so you can feel when you make contact with a drum.
If you want the Freedrum 2 virtual drum kit, the Kickstarter campaign will be running until September 11th. You can get the kit, with two drumsticks, two foot sensors, and three months of the software subscription, for just $79. Rewards are expected to be delivered in August of 2021.
