You’ve all been there before: you’re trying to leave the house, but can’t find your phone. You just had it minutes ago, but somehow have no idea where you placed it. You then scurry around from room to room as someone else calls it. Now imagine if there was a way to simplify this process, all with the press of a button…

Enter the Phone Finder, a DIY system that allows family members to locate their devices using a series of Amazon Dash buttons placed in various locations, like near the door or on the counter. When a button is pressed, the system dials the phone associated to that button, causing it to ring and ultimately be found.

According to its page, the system uses a Phone Finder box that’s hooked up to a landline cord. The Phone Finder box acts as a Wi-Fi access point that communicates with the Dash buttons and does not require a local network or a connection to the Internet.

Tired of always losing your phone? You can find the project, along with its design and files, on GitHub.
