You might have already seen some portable arcades based on Raspberry Pi computers like AdventurePi or the rugged handheld console. With the increasing market for compact arcades, there have been many enthusiasts and developers creating their own. Likewise, Reddit 'mariox2098' demonstrated a similar luggable arcade based on the Raspberry Pi 3+.

It uses an LCD controller board with a 17" screen taken from an old laptop. It comes with a button pack and two removable arcade joysticks. The model also gets two portable speakers for audio.

The device is powered by a 6000mAh LiitoKala battery pack, and it was reported that it only lasts around two hours though can be used while charging.

When it comes to software for any compact arcade based on Raspberry Pi, use RetroPie. Likewise, this model uses RetroPie with AttractMode as the front-end instead of EmulationStation because of the available themes and ability to customize.

There could be some improvements made in the future regarding reducing start time, increased battery life and potentially decreasing the game loading time. More details on building this compact arcade can be found on this Reddit post.
