Diego Valdes (aka Diegator) is a Seattle-based cosplayer and engineer, who recently spent the last seven months building an animatronic Gray Fox helmet from the the classic 1998 video game Metal Gear Solid.

The fully-functional prop consists of 12 3D-printed parts, which were later painted and sanded to an almost mirror finish, along with plenty of silicone. As for its electronics, the motorized helmet is equipped with seven LED boards, a USB charger, and an Adafruit Trinket to drive the NeoPixels and a few servos.

Diegator has documented most of the project on his YouTube channel, which includes steps like molding, soldering, installing the electronics, testing its alignment. But that’s not all. The cosplayer says he is currently working on the rest of the ninja cyborg suit!
