After watching a trailer for the video game Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, where the main character wears automatic sunglasses, creator Yousif Ashoor decided to make his own. These shades detect UV rays, and as seen in the video, when Ashoor steps into bright light, they close around his eyes. They then open again when he gets out of the sun.

The 3D-printed glasses, or rather their moving frames, are powered using an Arduino Nano and a LiPo battery.

According to Ashoor’s clip, he has “no life,” though with 180,000-plus hits on YouTube in just a couple days, perhaps he could simply walk around with his glasses on to find fans!
