Controlling devices with hand gestures has been a longtime dream for many users, especially for us Iron Man fans. Now, Makers can help make a Tony Stark-like future a reality with their Raspberry Pis, thanks to the new Flick family.

Based on Microchip’s MGC3130 electrical-field 3D tracking and gesture controller, Flicks comes in three different forms: a traditional Pi HAT, a pHAT for the Pi Zero, and an extra large panel which connects to a Raspberry Pi (or Arduino, BeagleBone and other I2C devices) using included jumper wires.

Each Flick uses technology that enables the PCB to detect gestures from up to 15 centimeters (about six inches) away — whether that’s touching, swiping, tapping, or drawing a circle in the air with your finger.

A collaboration between Pi Supply and ModMyPi, the Flick range is designed with ease of use in mind. Its plug and play functionality allows you to get the boards up and running within minutes using these software libraries, complete with a one line installer.
