CNC milling machines are a must-have for tinkerers, builders, and hobbyists who require precise cutting and etching. But they’re often expensive, complex, and bulky. Luckily, there’s a new alternative that’s compact, beginner-friendly, and affordable: the Comgrow ROBO.

Unlike most CNC machines, Comgrow’s is compact and will fit just about anywhere, no matter how big or small your workplace is. And it’s quite portable — all you need is a table to sit it on. No matter if you’ve worked with CNC’s before or just learning the basics, the machine is supposed to be easy to use and provides newbies with the tools they need.

On top of this, ROBO is versatile. It’s not only a CNC milling machine. It’s also a laser cutter and engraver. All you do is replace the mill end bit with the laser head kit. Freely switch between a 5W and 500mW laser head depending on your needs. And no matter the material, ROBO can etch on just about anything, whether it's wood, metal, leather, paper, or even food.

ROBO even has an automatic tool setting. It uses its embedded sensors to automatically calibrate the zero of the Z-axis. Other features include two-speed modes, adjustable rotate speed mode and constant rate mode, an offline module so the machine can function without a PC, and an emergency stop button to prevent nasty accidents.

ROBO is currently available to back on Kickstarter. The kit comes with the following:

  • Comgrow ROBO CNC router
  • Charger
  • Offline control handle
  • Spindle wrench kit
  • Brush
  • Power cable
  • Hex wrench kit
  • USB flash disk
  • 3.175mm end mill bits
  • USB cable
  • Press block kit

Early bird kits are currently available for about $219, while special kits featuring more tools run from $239-$390. Get all the details and grab a ROBO for yourself here.
