AdventurePi was designed to be built without special tools, can be customized, and has everything you need for a fantastic gaming experience. Unlike most portable consoles, the AdventurePi is ideal for multiple players and has a huge 13.3” IPS display. It also carries a massive 30,000mAh battery bank, which is enough to power that large display and all of the other components. Those all fit inside of an attractive Nanuk 910 hard case, which protects the electronics and opens up like a laptop when it’s time to play a game. You can choose to either have arcade buttons and a joystick built-in, or to use USB controllers.

The total cost to build the Console version of the AdventurePi should be about $250, but the Arcade version is a bit more expensive. It is possible to reduce the cost by shopping around and choosing more affordable components, such as a smaller display. A Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is recommended, as the RetroPie software doesn’t yet work with the new Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. You can assemble the Console version without any special tools, but you will need some basic power tools to cut the acrylic plate used for the Arcade version. No matter which AdventurePi you choose to build, you’re going to end up with a fantastic portable console for retrogaming anywhere.
