Charmin — yes, the toilet paper company— has decided to roll into CES 2020 with a trio of innovations from their so-called GoLab. These prototypes are meant to deliver a better bathroom experience for the 150 or so hours per year that people spend on this task. As they point out, “The bathroom is basically the same as it was 100 years ago. That is, until now."

Their first innovation is called the RollBot, which carries a roll of toilet paper on its self-balancing frame. The device is controlled with a smartphone and features infrared sensors for navigation, so if you’re stranded without this essential piece of kit, you can put in your request.

SmellSense is, as you might imagine, an electronic sensor monitoring system that detects carbon dioxide or hydrogen sulfide. It then notifies potential bathroom-goers via a GO/NO GO display, allowing you to avoid the stench yourself.

The last innovation, known as V.I.Pee is “a premium porta-potty experience enhanced with Oculus Rift S VR.” This is meant to keep you from missing out on whatever you were taking a break from, though hopefully it wouldn’t keep you from the task at hand.

While you might not see these innovations in stores, If you’re at CES this year you can check them out at the Proctor & Gamble LifeLab exhibit.
