Unless you live under a rock, everyone you know is probably addicted to Pokémon GO by now. However, it’s no longer enough just to play the game, some folks are taking the fun to an entirely new level. For instance, Maker Trey Keown has created his own Pokéball that he could actually throw to catch ’em all.
The gadget itself consists of an off-the-shelf foam Pokéball, which he gutted and replaced its inner workings with a TI SensorTag.
As for the software, the accelerometer data from the SensorTag is read by a custom iOS app via Bluetooth. The sensors within the physical Pokeball deect whenever it’s tossed, and triggers an AutoTouch script to simulate a swipe on the smartphone screen to throw the in-game ball.
