Burning Man Heartbeat Glasses
Hacker Rolf Hut came up with something new for this year’s Burning Man festival: NeoPixel-enabled glasses that react to his heartbeat.
Hacker Rolf Hut came up with something new for this year’s Burning Man festival: NeoPixel-enabled glasses that react to his heartbeat.
While looking through a pair of LEDs isn’t anything new, the trick with these Adafruit Trinket-controlled shades is that he’s using a pulse sensor in order to detect his heartbeat, lighting up the rings in a corresponding fashion.
Hut notes that if he gets mad he can turn it off via a button on the side of the glasses — apparently to look less threatening — or even switch it to party mode where the RGB lights blink randomly. Power is provided by a battery attached to his hip, which is charged via solar power during the day.
