Smartphone manufacturers think they know what you want in a cell phone: huge screens, ultra thin bodies, and super light weights. Judging by sales figures, that’s probably true for most people. But, maybe it’s not true for you. Maybe you want something rugged, and small enough to be tucked comfortably in your pocket. If so, the Unihertz Atom is for you.
The Unihertz Atom is a 4G smartphone designed for people who live active lifestyles and want a phone that isn’t going to break if it’s dropped on a hike. Considering it has already reached 16 times its Kickstarter funding goal, that seems to be something that people are looking for in today’s world of fragile devices. The display is a mere 2.45", and that’s packed inside a waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof case.
That small size doesn’t mean it’s lacking in features, though. It has a 2GHz eight-core processor, 4GB of RAM, dual cameras, NFC, and all of the sensors we’ve come to expect in modern smartphones. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo, so you get access to all of the apps you’re used. And, best of all, it’s only $219 for the Kickstarter VIP package (all early bird specials have already been claimed).
The Atom Kickstarter campaign is running until July 10th, and rewards should ship in October.
