Arduino's New Rileva ME Opta Bundle Targets Machine Learning-Backed Predictive Maintenance
The latest in the company's offerings for industrial automation, this new bundle packs an Opta microPLC plus four smart BLE sensor modules.
Arduino has announced a new entry in its industrial automation lineup, focusing on anomaly detection and predictive maintenance: the Arduino Rileva ME Opta Bundle.
"When your machines run smoothly, your business can go far. That’s why condition monitoring – once a 'nice to have' – is quickly becoming a must in maintenance strategies across industrial settings," Arduino claims in support of its latest launch. "But most dedicated systems can be complex to set up or difficult to scale. To make things easier, we're introducing the Arduino Rileva ME Opta Bundle: a complete, professional-grade solution that lets you monitor key assets and detect anomalies that might lead to failures, in real-time."
As you'd expect from the name, the new bundle includes an Arduino Opta WiFi — the top-end model in the company's range of compact programmable logic controllers (PLCs), featuring both wired Ethernet and wireless connectivity. This latter feature is important, as the other part of the bundle is a quartet of Arduino Rileva ME tags: combined vibration, temperature, and humidity sensors which transmit their data over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
Together, Arduino claims, the bundle provides everything you need to monitor a range of industrial equipment — motors, pumps, gearboxes, compresses, fans, and "any other kind of industrial machinery" — non-invasively. A machine learning system gathers data on normal operation, then flags anomalies — alerting the user through Arduino Cloud so the problem can be investigated.
The sensor modules are IP67 rated for water and dust proofing, track vibration and movement through an integrated three-axis accelerometer, and feature a field-replaceable 3V coin-cell battery — which, the company says, can drive a sensor for over a year before needing to be swapped out.
The Arduino Rileva ME Opta Bundle is being showcased at Automate 2025 this week, though pricing and availability have yet to be announced; interested parties unable to attend the event can sign up to learn more through Arduino's form.
